Actions to improve energy efficiency at the Cabezo Baeza WWTP

The actions to improve energy efficiency at the Cabezo Baeza wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) of Cartagena have been completed.

" "

The changes consisted of replacing two stirrers and one of the blowers and adapting the current air distribution system. Both the blower, which operates through magnetic levitation, and the stirrers are examples of very high energy efficiency technology.

These improvements will lead to savings of around 35% of the energy consumed by the aeration system and 19.22% of total energy consumption.

This action involved an investment of €124,611, 30% of which was subsidised by the Department of Economic Development, Tourism and Employment with funds from the 2014-2020 ERDF for the Region of Murcia to improve energy efficiency and renewable energy use by companies within the scope of the programme.
